OnlyJame (Darnell Barrett) is originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago or also known as the “9”. Jame began making a name for himself late 2013 after he graduated high school and started attending Columbia College in Chicago. After one semester of college and getting overwhelmed with his growing career, Jame dropped out and made music his priority. He went on to make music with Chicago natives like Tayler Bennett and Toni Romiti and even Chicago legend Twista. In early 2016 at one of Jame’s sold out shows that included artists like famous Dex and Rich the Kidd, he announced that he will no longer be focusing on hip-hop, his focus will be r&b and pop. He told his fans that he feels like the world needs feel good music and said he feels that he can produce them better outside of hip-hop.

Jame was born in Hoffman Estates, Illinois to Mikiya Barrett & Charles Barrett. Very Early in Jame’s life he would dance and sing at holiday parties for his family, his mother would continuously tell him to keep the music up and it will pay off. Jame attended Glenbard south high school where he was a three sport athlete and captain of the wrestling and football team. He also was part of the speech team, had leading roles in the school plays and was the choir president. Even with all of his extra curriculars Jame still made time to record his music and later sell mixtapes to his peers at school.
After high school in 2013 Jame attended Columbia College Chicago and dropout after a semester to pursue his career. In mid 2015 Jame started to sell out local venues like Reggie’s and Double Doors. He later collaborated with Toni Romiti on his single “Grow” and Jame started his buzz on the internet.
